Call for Papers: Special Issue on Foundation Models and Scientific Discovery
LJCI invites submissions to our upcoming special issue on "Foundation Models and Scientific Discovery," guest-edited by Prof. Yoshua Bengio (Université de Montréal) and Dr. Demis Hassabis (Google DeepMind).
This special issue focuses on the intersection of large-scale foundation models and autonomous scientific research, covering:
• Pre-trained models for scientific literature mining and synthesis
• AI-assisted protein structure prediction and drug discovery
• Foundation models for climate and Earth system modeling
• Autonomous hypothesis generation and experimental design
• Evaluation frameworks for scientific AI systems
Submission deadline: 30 November 2026
Expected publication: Q1 2027
Authors should submit through the standard LJCI submission portal and indicate "Foundation Models SI" in the cover letter.
